Les illustrations photographiques de Dupuis lui permettent de gagner sa vie, mais à l'instar du chercheur en quête de connaissance pour son seul plaisir, il explore sans cesse les nouvelles techniques qu'offre la photographie moderne. Selon lui, l'introduction de logiciels de manipulation photographique a considérablement bouleversé le média.
